One of the tailored services we provide at Warrah for our young adults in the Discovery Program is work experience. We pride ourselves on sourcing and maintaining community connections that enable opportunities to develop for our participants in a broad range of employment settings. Our vision is that these opportunities can transition into supported or open employment in the future.
Ben, a young adult in our Discovery Program completed a Barista Training course delivered by Hills Daily Grind (through Hills Community Aid). He also completed a TAFE Certificate 1 in Workplace Readiness, providing him interview skills. Following 8 weeks of work experience at the Local Collective Café in Galston, Ben has now secured ongoing work experience at the Pacifica Hills Christian School café on Mondays. This is a great achievement for Ben, putting his barista skills into action and connecting with people.
