Celebrating Seniors Festival at Warrah

May 2, 2025 | News

Warrah’s seniors truly had their time to shine during this year’s NSW Seniors Festival, embracing a week full of enriching, fun, and heartwarming activities that honoured their contributions and vibrant spirits.

From the gentle movement of chair yoga in Kinta to the joy of sharing delicious morning teas, thank you to Dinner on the Table for the beautiful spread. The week was packed with moments of connection and celebration.

We were also joined by wonderful guest speakers who shared their expertise on some very special topics—Our Feathered Friends took us into the world of local birdlife, while Falls Prevention offered valuable insights into maintaining safety and wellbeing. Creative expression came alive in a felt-making class, and our dance party brought everyone to their feet with music, movement, and laughter.

One of the highlights of the week was a special photography session with Mel Hayes. Mel’s lens captured the very essence of our seniors—their warmth, joy, and strong sense of community. These photos are a testament to the vibrant lives our elders lead at Warrah.

Our sincere thanks go to the NSW Government, whose support through the 2025 NSW Seniors Festival Grant Program helped make this memorable week possible.

At the official launch of Seniors Week, Warrah CEO Delia Gray shared these powerful words:

“Today we honour the remarkable individuals who form the heart and soul of our community at Warrah, our seniors. Many of the seniors we celebrate today began their journey with us six decades ago as children in our school. What a profound privilege it is to witness this beautiful full circle, as those once-young students now stand as our respected elders at Warrah.

The strength of our community lies in these deep, generational connections. Our campus and buildings are full of shared memories, with stories that span decades. People who learned together as children, and welcomed others who have joined them in the years between … now they continue to support one another in their golden years.”

Warrah’s seniors are a shining example of what it means to age with dignity, joy, and connection. They continue to explore new experiences, support one another, and embody the community spirit that defines Warrah. Here’s to our amazing elders—and to many more celebrations together!
