Campus Update: What’s Happening Around Warrah?

Nov 3, 2026 | News

There’s plenty happening around Warrah’s beautiful bushland campus, with projects underway to care for our grounds, improve our facilities and prepare for some new arrivals.

Improvements to our paddocks and fencing

Our much-loved cows, Elke and Frangipani, have moved into their new paddock in the middle of the property, next to Gaban-Ngurang, our chicken coop. This new location gives participants more opportunities to spend time with the cows as part of their day at Warrah.

With a few more fencing improvements planned, we’re also looking forward to having our chickens roaming in the same paddock as the cows.

Work will soon begin on a new boundary fence, running from the top of the property near the Farm Shop down towards Banksia. This is an important step in preparing the grounds for the arrival of goats in late 2027.

Students from Barker College began building a goat shelter this year as part of the school’s volunteering program. They’ll continue the project next year, when the shelter is expected to be completed. It’s wonderful to see the students contributing to a project that will become part of life at Warrah.

A new home for our chickens

Our chickens have settled into their new coop, Gaban-Ngurang, and we’ve welcomed some lovely new ladies to join our older flock. They’re already adding a splash of colour to our egg collection, with a mix of white, blue and brown eggs.

In a couple of months, we hope to have our own pasture-raised, free-range eggs available exclusively through the Warrah Organic Farm Shop. Keep an eye out for them!

Caring for our grounds

With guidance from our property team and horticulturalist, we’re continuing to care for and improve the grounds across the property.

Old fencing is being removed, the garden beds around our entrance sign have had a refresh, and our gardens and sensory gardens have been pruned. There are also improvements underway with a turning circle near the Farm Shop, and a drop-off zone and additional parking near Diramu to make access to the areas easier.

Ongoing grounds maintenance is also an important part of looking after our bushland property and supporting our bushfire preparedness.

Essential maintenance and improvements

From our new paddocks and chicken coop to garden improvements, fencing and essential maintenance, there’s plenty happening around Warrah. Each project helps us care for our campus and make the most of this special place for the people who learn, live and participate in our community.
