We have a fantastic playground at Warrah, it allows our students and adult participants to jump, swing, throw balls, cycle, play, and explore their imaginations. However, there is one thing missing, and that is the opportunity to climb! Climbing activities offer a wealth of physical, sensory, and cognitive advantages to developing bodies.
At the heart of Warrah Specialist School lies a playground, a vibrant space teeming with laughter, activity, and many fun opportunities for our students. It’s a place where imagination takes flight, and unstructured play nurtures friendships, creativity, and movement, with each activity contributing to essential physical and social skills.
It’s a best-kept secret that outdoor play is not just for fun. The students are also learning, developing, and growing with every ball they throw, every step they take, every imaginary game they play, and every rung they climb.
A climbing structure in our playground would benefit our students enormously. Physically, it improves core strength, overall strength, motor skills, and muscle tone. From a cognitive perspective, climbing enhances decision-making, attention, and problem-solving skills. The structure would engage our students and participants in challenging ways, fostering a sense of pride and achievement.
It is not just the students who will benefit, however, as after school and during school holidays, the adult participants use our school playground as a sensory play space. Our Saturday Connect participants will also benefit during their weekend activities.
We need your support to make this vision a reality.
Your generous tax-deductible donation will pave the way for a climbing frame in our school playground, creating a space where our students and participants can experience the joy, challenge, and numerous developmental benefits of climbing.
Your support will make a significant difference for our students.
Your gift today will help towards our fundraising goal of $40,000 to purchase a new climbing frame for our school students and adult participants.
