Spring
In the spring time garden,
Rosy morning glow,
Sunshine calling, falling, calling,
Flowers awake and grow.
As the vibrant colours of spring unfold, Waaia and Kinta have been buzzing with activities that celebrate nature, creativity, and community. The warmer weather and blooming flowers have provided plenty of opportunities for everyone to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Our property and maintenance team has helped create two beautiful new garden beds, including one featuring a stunning mosaic bird bath, lovingly made by our participants. The raised garden bed offers everyone a chance to take part, whether it’s watering, planting, weeding, or simply soaking in the fragrant sights and smells. Excursions to Auburn’s Cherry Blossom Festival, Parramatta’s Wisteria Gardens, and the St. Ives Wildflower Gardens and Sculpture Trail have been met with enthusiasm, making the most of spring’s beauty.
The newly opened metro line has added some excitement to our city visits. Tania and David were among the first to explore the metro’s extension from Chatswood to Sydenham, taking full advantage of this easy and accessible way to see the sights.
In the art world, congratulations are due to our talented participants who recently held an exhibition at Waaia to mark the conclusion of their TAFE Visual Arts Course. The event was a great success, with portfolios displayed, artwork hung, and the artists themselves on hand to chat about their creations. Additionally, Melita, Donna, and Troy proudly showcased their work in this year’s Orange Blossom Festival, an excellent opportunity to highlight their talents among the festival’s many impressive entries.
A recent highlight was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Kevin, Kate, Alita, and Richard, who visited RDA Tall Timbers and were thrilled to hold the Melbourne Cup trophy, wearing special gloves. They also had the chance to meet famous jockeys and watch exciting horse activities.
At Waaia, the celebrations never stop! We’ve embraced Olympic fever, enjoyed themed days like Pyjama Day and Jersey Day, and our annual Warrah Spring Picnic. MasterChef-style cooking demonstrations have added delicious flavors from Nepal and Bangladesh to the mix, thanks to our dedicated staff. We also had a lively Book Week Parade, and our Waaia Café continues to be a hub of laughter and chatter each week, with great coffee, gluten-free treats, and Tania’s famous scones.
It’s safe to say, life at Waaia and Kinta is blossoming this spring!
